Our Father's Day =)
15:40 Thursday 23 June 2011Since we just happen to pass the world Father’s Day day..haha..Let’s talk about it..
Well, according to wiki: ‘Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in many countries and on other days elsewhere.’..in Malaysia, people celebrate it at third Sunday of June..that is 19 June, this year.
Well, I guess that’s one thing wiki got it wrong..for me, I think we just can’t have a day to celebrate or being thankful for all our father/parent sacrifices, it should be a life time long event..where we should be grateful and pray for their well being every single day…
Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradhawi once said, “Hari ibu/bapa ini timbul kerana pihak orentalis/doktrin barat memikirkan bahawa inilah cara yang terbaik untuk mereka menarik minat anak-anak remaja barat agar menghormati orang tua mereka. Umumnya kita tahu bahawa masyarakat barat amat tipis dengan adab tatasusila, jadi dengan mengadakan/mengkhususkan hari-hari tertentu sekaligus dapat memupuk remaja mereka agar menyayangi dan menghormati orang tua mereka.”
We are not same as the western people..we are much greater than them..we are rich in manners and ethics..Bahkan in Islam itself have taught us, we must always show respect to our parent regardless of the time or place. It’s not limited only on father’s day; that we should show respects them..
وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا ۚ إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ
كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَا أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا ﴿٢٣﴾ وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ
الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا﴿٢٤
“And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small." [17:23-24]

Well speaking about respect and showing love, when was the last time you tell your parent that you love them directly?..it must have been long time ago..most people think, they don’t have t say it, because the parent knew it..well, it different!..when you say it, it mean a lot to them..say it while you still have the chance to say it..once there gone, you will regret it..believe me, I have when thru it..it never too late to tell them that you love them…
Alfatihah juga untuk arwah bapa yang telah pulang ke Rahmatullah, semoga di letakkan dlm kalangan orang2 yang soleh. Amin.
I guess that all, it’s not that much, but just as a simple reminder..
